No pictures this time. See Susan's blog for the birthday pictures.
I had a great day, got some really nice cards, phone messages from friends and family, a bear from my friend Barb, and money with which I bought a watch from my friend Carole. Tuesday my friend Peggy is taking me to a Chinese place we like for lunch.
There was a time that I didn't think I'd make it to this age. I am glad the Lord has allowed me to do it. I am enjoying life very much.

Don't know if you can tell the difference in the bathroom colors but it went from brown to blue. I am very happy with it
Not everyone has a guitar case with white feet
Sue got me this bear for beside my driveway for Mother's Day Front says welcome and back says goodbye. I think he's cute.

I decided to get my poems in a more orderly fashion. I have found them everywhere, some printed, some still hand written in notebooks, some on discs.Since last week I have located nearly a thousand,I have them in alphabetical order, and am going to get them all titled and put in order according to subject.(If I live long enough.) After a dry spell I have written about 10 in the last few weeks. As of now I have 2 of the 3 inch 3 ring binders full. I also have several smaller ones with such subjects as family, friends, and school. that are of a more personal nature.I also intend to get them onto a c.d.

Another poem: this one is about me,

Spring Chicken
I am a spring chicken
Without a spring
Lately I can't seem to do anything
Like rollerbladng or skiing on the snow
Not that I ever could you know
My head says"you surely can do that
My body responds( to what ever it is)
Why on earth did you do that.

The latest to my collection is about kindness

Kindness
There is no act of kindness, whether small or great
That is ever wasted, so please don't hesitate
Do unto others, God's Word says to me
Works of kindness are the best, don't you see
If it is kindness that you sow
It will come back, you must know
Just remember God's kindess to us
In the life and death of His Son, Jesus.

Hope you don't mind the poetry, but it a part of me too.

My friend Carole gave me this harness awhile ago, and I had never used it to take Baby for a car ride. However, Monday I decided to do just that. She loved it. When I got back I stopped at Sue's and Rebekah said" Look Mom, Baby is riding shotgun,"
She did very well so I took her out again in the afternoon so that I could get these pictures.

There will be no pictures with this post, however I wanted to share some new poems with you. I recently took my self off some of the medications that I have been on for the past 2 plus years.( With the doctor's ok) Since then I seem more able to put together poems, and I see no bad effects of being off the meds.

These are with Easter in mind.

Easter
by Nancy Brutout

The event called Easter is about the death of God's only Son
For with His death and resurrection our salvation was won
He suffered greatly here on this earth
To make of us some thing of worth
His righteousness became our own
For he came our sins to atone
The reason that He came to die
Was for sinners such as I.

God
by Nancy Brutout

There has never been a time when He was not
There never was a place where He could not be sought
Omnipotent and Omnipresent is He
The better to care for you and me
He loved us so much He came to die
For our salvation, that is why.

The Crucifixion
by Nancy Brutout
Were you there on that terrible day
When God's own Son for our sins did pay
On a wicked wooden cross He was nailed
After false accusations and beatings prevailed
A crown of thorns they pushed on His head
They pierced Him with a sword to see if He was dead
In a borrowed tomb He did lay
But alas He was not there to stay
Very early on that third moen the women came
And for ever after they were never the same
He was gone, they knew not where
He is Risen the angels did share
They ran to tell all their friends
For on His death and resurrection our salvation depends
You must believe that He is God
Before you leave this earthly sod.

I hope that you enjoy them and have a very Blessed and Happy Easter.

Since I have the boys living with me these are my new "best friends" I doubled the size of my pantry space too.I do the cooking, dishes and laundry and they do the floors. Since nearly all the floors in my house are tile, that is a job.Since the accident neither of them are working, hopefully they can soon.
This is the right side of my desk. Recognize anyone there?
But Mom you got up- this is what happens when I get up from my chair. I guess because it is warm

Thursday, March 12, 2009

This is Thursday March 12 although you would have thought yesterday was Friday the 13th.First of all it was cold and rainy, not a day that I wanted to move out of the house, however I had an appointment at the Chiropractors at 11:00. Everyone was concerned for me driving. Little did we know what would happen. It wasn't me that had an accident! Ben and his friend decided to go to the corner store for some gator aid. They were just on Harrison Road when a car slowed to turn in front of them. She was about 50 feet in front of them, they had slowed to allow her time to turn, when a woman in a small truck probably going 55 mph rear ended them pushing them into the car ahead of them. Both boys hit their heads on the back window breaking it out. She was taken to the emergency room via ambulance and the boys came home. When I returned I insisted they go to the ER and be checked out. Nothing was broken, but both were visibly shaken and today are very stiff and hurting. God is so good. Had they been in Ben's car they most likely would have been badly injured or killed. And now today I had an appointment with my orthopedic doc for a one year checkup and had my shoulder injected as I have been having some difficulty with it. So goes life here at the Brutout household.Never a dull moment with the 3 pets, and 3 guys living here( Levi, Ben and their friend Levi. Confusing with 2 Levi's in the house,) No funny looking pictures with this addition.

If you know me very well
There is one thing you might tell
I am a poet, writer of poems.
On subjects like family and homes
I like to write about holidays too
Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter it's true.
So I'm including one here to see
There really is a poet in me.

Easter
by Nancy Brutout

Easter is one of the Spring Holidays
And is celebrated in many different ways
Some with colored eggs and candy
Others with new clothes that are dandy
Christians rejoice on that day
We celebrate our risen Lord
Who though he died on the cross
Came to life again, as foretold in His Word
Colored eggs and chocolate bunnies are okay
If you really know why we celebrate the day.

One of my favorite things to do is to read and I have been scheduling time every day to do just that. So far this year I have read 51 books of various sizes and interests. I have 6 bookshelves but only 4 hold the over 1000 books that I own( two hold -you guessed it- bears!)

I also have some new "guests" in my yard. Several red hens and a rooster. Today they rewarded us with 10 eggs. I feed them table scraps and Susan feeds them their regular food.
I have this one birdfeeder in the back yard and two on my front porch. Rhodie likes bird food too.

One morning this week I had neighbors drop in for breakfast. Susan brought some of the goats to help clear the yard and get some special greens.

Spring is definately here. There are signs of it everywhere. The yard is covered with little wild blooms, clover, wild daffodils. The woods also have blooms. I have a redbud tree and a dogwood tree blooming now.Ben has tilled the same amount of garden space for us as last year, and Susan has planted potatoes, beets, carrots, and leaks so far.

These two pictures are backward here. The first is of my rose bushes after a "close encounter" with some deer. The second is after they have started to sprout some new growth. Like I have sai before I am not a nature photographer but I try.

Don't know if this white flower has a name other than "weed"but I thought it was nice. Then a couple of days later this purple one bloomed.

Signs of spring are everyhere here. This was a surprise earlier this week. A Hyacinth survived the winter and is blooming.I spotted the pink one first

I collect things other than bears. These are just a sample of the 45 or so tea pots that I have. And some of the one hundred plus spoons I have from all the states and several foreign countries. I have them on a coffee table with a wicker base topped with glass. The glass keeps them from tarnishing.

Some of you have children that do cute things /I have my kittens. This first picture is them telling Baby that they'd help her get back in. The other one is them resting(on the piano )with some Valentine bears.

This is my driveway after the rain I have wild daffodils(miniature) Susan has the real thing.

This is Ethel You can see where they shaved her belly for her spay surgery. This is Lucy helping herself to the water in Baby's bowl( she does have her own!)
